Summer Music in the Valley This Weekend!

A variety of summer music will fill RI’s Blackstone Valley this weekend! Here’s a quick rundown for you to make plans and come enjoy…

Friday, June 17th the Levitt Amp Woonsocket Music Series returns with free music with national and local musicians and continues every Friday at River Island Art Park through August.  This weekend’s music includes rising stars and family affair The New Respects, for an electrifying evening of danceable fusions of pop, soul and rock. The concert will begin at 6 pm with local favorite Eastern Medicine Singers, an Algonquin Drum Group from Woonsocket/Providence RI, that are dedicated to keeping the eastern woodlands American Indian culture alive.

The music flows from the Blackstone River to the Providence River with the second Waterfront Concert at Bold Point on Friday, June 17th at 6:30 pm. This weekend features the music of New Orleans with the return of Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews & Orleans Avenue‘s Voodoo Threauxdown! Last weekend sold out so get your tickets to see this show on Friday, June 17th here: https://events.boldpointpark.com/061722

The Eastern Medicine Singers return to the valley Saturday, June 18 to kick off  the much anticipated return of the Summer Solstice Festival at Diamond Hill Park in Cumberland.  The festival starts at 11 am and continues throughout the day with the very best of traditional Celtic and world music!  Tickets are available at the gate either cash or check OR credit card. Full info at: https://www.riverfolk.org/brtssf/!

Also on Saturday from 3 – 5 pm celebrate Juneteenth with Mixed Magic Theatre’s eighth annual Juneteenth Celebration, an afternoon of Black excellence!  This free event will feature the theater’s acclaimed company and members of the Exult Choir and will include tributes through music, poetry, dance, spoken word, and more!

The music will continue throughout the summer at our many music venues along with free outdoor concerts in many of our Blackstone Valley Communities!  Be sure to check our event calender for a complete list of events and festivals for this summer!
