More than ever, we recognize the important contributions of Martin Luther King, Jr. in regard to the civil rights movement. In 1994, Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act, designating the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday.

MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a “day on, not a day off.”

There are several events taking place virtually and around Rhode Island’s Blackstone Valley to celebrate & honor the legacy of the great Martin Luther King, Jr., and to provide opportunities to be of service to our community
