Tulip Time in the Valley

Totally Tulips

Adams Farm in Cumberland has a wonderful tulip experience that goes beyond just picking your own tulips; it’s a whole new farm experience!

This fun family outing has activities for kids including a hay maze, hay mountain, and playground. With the purchase of the “Tulip Experience” ticket, you also get a small ice cream cone filled with corn to feed the animals as you wait for the hay wagon to pick you up and bring you to the u-pick tulip area.  The hayride is a bit bumpy and may not be recommended for some, but it is well worth the trip once you see all the beautiful tulips.

Once in the tulip field, which begins with 100,000 tulips, you can pick up to a dozen tulips and choose from a variety of colors from bright orange to pale yellow, pinks and some purple too.  When we visited recently, there was a family group, a mom with three children all out in the field picking tulips.  We heard one of the children exclaim with delight, “Mom, I found purple ones!”  We were excited to find the bright orange/red tulips and sunny yellow ones, but our favorite had to be the burgundy.

The staff will bundle your tulips up nicely and tie them up in a ribbon to bring home or to give as a gift perhaps for Mother’s Day.

If you don’t want to take the hay ride to pick tulips you can sign up for the farm visit and still have the opportunity to purchase a potted tulip at the farm or explore and take photos in the tulip patch at the farm entrance (you just can’t pick them).

Totally Tulips continues daily through May 9 with timed tickets from 10 am to 6 pm.  To get the “TotallyTulip” Experience you will want to purchase the Mega admission, which is broken into two-hour increments. MORE INFO
