How To Prepare For This Year’s Thanksgiving Holiday Meal

As some of you may be thinking about how to prepare for this year’s Thanksgiving holiday meal with fewer guests and relatives gathering around the table, we have a few suggestions for you below:

To start, several local bakeries here in Rhode Island’s Blackstone Valley are happy to take care of desserts for your holiday table.

Gingersnaps Bakery in Lincoln has pies of all varieties, including a Harvest Pie made with apples, pears and cranberries topped with a flaky crust. They are also offering “bake at home” kits including Brioche Rolls with whipped cinnamon butter and cheesy garlic rolls with whipped garlic butter. Orders must be received by this Friday, November 20th for November 25th pickup.  View Thanksgiving Menu.

Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery not only has a full Thanksgiving menu of pies and pastry, but they also have Thanksgiving DIY cookie kits that will make for a nice Thanksgiving Eve or morning activity to do with the kids at home.  Thanksgiving hours are Tuesday, November 24 8 am – 7 pm and Wednesday, November 25, 7 am – 7 pm.  More Info.

Juliana’s Bakery in Cumberland is another location where you can pre-order baked goods for your Thanksgiving table.

While you’re in Cumberland, you may also want to pick up a nice wine for Thanksgiving at Diamond Hill Vineyards – perhaps their Cranberry-Apple or Spiced Apple wine. They are open Thursday-Saturday, 12-4 p.m. or Sundays 12-3 pm.

Ivy & Lace Bakeshop in the Greenville section of Smithfield has a variety of traditional holiday pies as well as cheesecakes, festively decorated cakes. Orders must be in by Thursday, November 19th.

If you plan on early holiday decorating, Vintage Gardens, also in Greenville will be open starting Saturday, November 21st for Christmas trees, wreaths and boxwood trees.

If it’s a meal you want to order for your holiday table, check out CUFFS Counter for something different: confit turkey legs or house porchetta with a variety of fixins. Kits come ready for the oven with reheating instructions. Pre-ordering must be done by Friday, November 20 for pick-up on Wednesday, November 25.  More info.
