Getting Ready for the Holidays in Blackstone Valley

As we get ready for the holidays, we know that it is going to be different this year.  It has been a hard year for everyone; and with a possible Thanksgiving shut-down looming, it may be difficult to visit loved ones.

However, that does not mean that we cannot find ways to make the holiday season bright.  We would like to share a few ideas, events and other opportunities to share joy this holiday season.

This week we begin in the western part of the Blackstone Valley in the quaint village of Harrisville, RI (Burrillville).

With smaller Thanksgiving gatherings of those in your household, you may wish to do your own baking perhaps with some apples you have gathered from a local orchard. However, if you would rather leave the holiday baking to others, Mapleville Farm, located at 544 Victory Highway, has a wide selection of baked goods from savory to sweet: Pumpkin bread, Butternut Bread Bowls, Cinnamon Rolls and Sticks, Biscotti’s for your Thanksgiving breakfast and plenty of pies (apple, pumpkin and squash). All orders must be paid in full and made by November 22

Before it gets dark, you may want to take a walk along the scenic waterfall located across the street from Assembly Theatre and stop for a bite to eat at the Waterfall Cafe, 35 East Avenue along route 107 for some tempting weekly specials – the Arancini (5 house made, three cheese Risotto Fried Balls with Marinara sauce) looks appealing.

Now if you will be needing some Christmas cards to mail that Christmas photo, why not visit  St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center website and order a set of beautiful cards featuring photos of the stained glass windows located in St Ann’s.Click here for viewing and ordering
