Galentine’s Day – Celebrating Friendship

It’s not always about lovers… celebrate friendships too!

Galentine’s Day originated from the popular sitcom Parks & Recreation with character Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), and it’s about celebrating female friendship. It is typically celebrated on February 13th, the night before Valentine’s Day.  Like other sitcom inspired holidays – Friendsgiving and Festivus – Galentine’s Day has resonated beyond the fictional world into real world celebrations.

Here are just a few ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day in the Blackstone Valley:

Every Thursday is Ladies Night at Andrew’s Bistro in Cumberland. From 4 – 9 pm kick back with the girls that matter most and order  $7 martinis, $15 Ladies entree or for $25.99 add a house salad and one dessert.  More Info.

On Saturday, February 13th, Galentine’s Day itself, why not gather your goddess gals to honor the Goddess Brigid with Celtic harpist and singer Aine Minogue in a virtual concert at Blackstone River Theatre. Get together in your respective homes and enjoy Minogue’s ethereal singing as she revels on the season and Irish mythology with a voice that is undeniably her own. More Info

Stadium Theatre’s Wine Women & Jewelry, is the perfect way to celebrate Galentine’s Day.   Even though Galentine’s Day is typically celebrated February 13th does not mean you can’t gather your best girlfriends and head over to Stadium Theatre on Wednesday, February 24th at 6 pm for some wine, jewelry and light food fare. The tickets are $30 and include two glasses of wine, three pieces of jewelry and appetizers.  More Info.
