Visit Whitinsville, MA, and commemorate the Blackstone Valley’s involvement in World War II.
In 1942, E. Kent Swift, President of the Whitin Machine Works, spoke of the war “at home:” “In this quiet valley there will be this small army working with tools of its trade…it will fight this war of machines by pouring out a constantly accelerating flow of military equipment.”
WHAT TO EXPECT
We will have activities for kids and exhibits on manufacturing in the Blackstone River Valley including a replica of the Ghost Army Tank, World War II Uniforms, and displays from Battleship Cove and the Museum of Work and Culture. Come meet World War II veterans and hear their stories. All Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel will receive a Free America the Beautiful and Federal Recreational Land pass.
