Victorian Valentines Workshop

Learn about the customs of sending Valentine’s Day sentiments during this historic program in the setting of the one-room schoolhouse at Chase Farm Park.
Hosted by schoolmarms and students dressed in historic attire, participants can warm up by the wood stove and take a journey back to the enchanting Victorian era to learn about how this romantic holiday got its start. It was a time when Valentine’s Day sentiments were personally crafted, including images and words that describe one’s affection. Inspired by antique and vintage Valentines on display, participants will be provided the opportunity to create Valentines using an array of materials, including lace, paper doilies, ribbons, hearts, flowers and more.
Geared for kids ages 5 and older, as well as teens and adults. Staggered admissions every half hour starting at 1:00 with the last admission at 2:30 pm.
