Titanic Tea at Hearthside House

May 11 @ 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Lincoln’s Hearthside House Museum invites you to its annual signature event, the afternoon tea.  This year’s theme is the Titanic. There are two seatings offered at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.  Tickets are only available in advance for this event and must be purchased before May 5th.

The event is a First-Class Afternoon Tea.  Featured during the tea will be a special presentation about the grand ship of the White Star Lines, the world’s most famous ship.

The elegance of afternoon tea as it was served in the Titanic’s tea salon includes delectable savories of miniature sandwiches and scones, along with dainty sweets, all beautifully arranged on fancy serving dishes set upon linen and lace, and accented by fresh flowers at every table.  Music that was played on the Titanic will add to the ambience.

The event will also host a raffle, tour and prizes, and the gift shop will be open for purchasing.  The Afternoon Tea is a perfect outing with friends or family for a Mother’s Day weekend celebration, or for history buffs, or tea aficionados, and appeals to both men and women.

The volunteer museum staff will be outfitted as both passengers and crew of the ship. Guests are invited to join in the spirit of the event by dressing in the era of 1912 as the first-class passengers on the ship would have done.  Fancy hats or tiaras are encouraged, although not required. Prizes will be awarded for the best interpretation.

Following the Tea, guests are welcomed to a self-guided tour through the museum’s upper floors.

Tickets are $50 each and are available only by advance purchase before May 3rd through www.hearthsidehouse.org.  Limited space is available at each session, so it is advisable to purchase early. This event is geared toward an adult audience and not appropriate for children under age 10. Any questions, contact info@hearthsidehouse.org.

Built in 1810, Hearthside House is the grand stone mansion on Great Road that had been a home to numerous families until 1997.  It is now owned by the Town of Lincoln, and the Friends of Hearthside are stewards for its preservation and protection and manages the award-winning museum as well as the other-town-owned historic properties at the Great Road Heritage Campus.  All proceeds from tours, programs and events benefit the mission of the nonprofit, all-volunteer organization.
