On the first Saturday in February, thousands of libraries across the world celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day by offering free, fun, fabulous activities for families. The Jesse Smith Library is an ideal place for children to play, discover, make friends, and have fun. And Take Your Child to the Library Day is the perfect time to discover some library magic.
Visit the Children’s Department with your child on the 2nd floor of the Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library on Sat. Feb 4 from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm to:
– Play grocery store in our latest dramatic play area “Jesse’s Market”.
– Make a Fabulous Foam Frame in our Craft Corner ( 1 per child).
– Try out our “Special 1 Day Only” Indoor Scavenger Hunt for Kids. Find the 11 library cards hidden around the 2nd floor to spell the words “library card” and win a small prize.
– Play in the program room with our train table, blocks, kitchen set, baby toys, and giant Connect 4.
– Explore magnets with our magnetic tiles, magnetic mazes, and magnetic stand with numbers and letters.
– Each child that visits the Children’s Dept. on Sat. Feb 4 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm will receive a FREE raffle ticket for a chance to win a gift basket.
– Stroll along our outdoor area behind the library to read the StoryWalk® on the Riverwalk: I Need a Hug by Aaron Blabey.
