Join us for this late summer stargazing evening as you discover the mysteries of the night skies in the wide open spaces of Chase Farm Park.

Friends of Hearthside is pleased to once again host this popular night time activity at Chase Farm Park as we close out the summer.  

To get everyone started on the same page–both beginners and experienced–there’ll be a basic overview of stargazing, “Astronomy 101” given by noted Rhode Island astronomer, Francine Jackson.   Then, it’s off we go into the field to view the night sky through telescopes and take a guided tour one star and one planet at a time, led by her fellow astronomers from Skyscrapers, Inc. 

Attendance is limited and reservations in advance are requested through the registration form accessed below. 

Due to the popularity of this program, we are offering two sessions.  Both sessions will have an hour and a half time period for the program and viewing:  7:30-9:00 and 8:15-9:45.

Cost is $7.00 per person, payable in CASH only upon arrival. Children 5-10 are $5 and current members of Friends of Hearthside receive a discount. Not advisable for under age 5.

Be prepared for either warm or cool nighttime weather for the telescope viewing and you should be prepared with bug spray. The preliminary presentation will take place indoors at the Visitors Center at Chase Farm. 

All registrants will be notified if we need to cancel or postpone the event in case of inclement or cloudy weather.  The rain date is the next night, Thursday, August 24th.
