Discover the mysteries and wonders of the night sky with this stargazing evening in the wide open spaces of Chase Farm Park.

Friends of Hearthside is pleased to announce the return of this popular event.  This year, it will be slightly different from those programs done in the past, as we adhere to COVID restrictions, with fewer people, social distancing, the presentation beforehand being done outdoors, advance ticket sales only, and face masks for all.  BUT, we will still have the same great program elements!

To get everyone started on the same page–both beginners and experienced–there’ll be a basic overview of stargazing, “Astronomy 101” given by noted Rhode Island astronomer, Francine Jackson.   Then, it’s off we go into the field to view the night sky through telescopes and take a guided tour one star and one planet at a time, led by her fellow astronomers from Skyscrapers, Inc.

Attendance is limited to 30.  Cost is $7 per person, payable in advance only.  Children 5 and under are free.  Current members of Friends of Hearthside receive a discount on ticket purchase.

Although we expect to have a glorious clear night, should there be any rain, or total cloud cover, in the forecast,  the event will be postponed to the next night.  All registrants will be notified of any changes.
