North Star Jazz and CommonGround

As national recording artists for the vibrant independent North Star Music label, the North Star Jazz Ensemble and its offshoot band CommonGround produced a total of 12 albums — selling over 400,000 copies combined. On October 26, they’ll perform in a rare reunion concert at Chan’s featuring classic and modern standards from the ever-expanding Great American Songbook.
This multifaceted band includes: Bruce Abbott on saxes and flute, Ron Fournier on piano, RI Hall of Fame inductee Marty Ballou on bass, Paul Mason on drums —and featured artist Peter Calo on guitar and vocals.
The show will also include originals by the NYC-based Calo: an accomplished singer/songwriter who has also backed the likes of Carly Simon, James Taylor, Jimmy Webb, Linda Eder, Sophie B. Hawkins. and The Heavy Metal Horns during his remarkable career.
