Joy and Wonder of Miniatures and Mini-Psychic Fair at Hearthside House

June 30 @ 11:00 am - 3:30 pm

At this special exhibit at the historic Hearthside House Museum, visitors may discover over a hundred miniatures displayed throughout 13 rooms.  The awe at the precision and skill it took to make the miniatures is coupled with the fun of participating in a scavenger hunt to find some of the tiniest ones at just 1/4 inch in size.  Miniatures include objects of interest to all, with dollhouses, toy soldiers, dioramas, small scale models of trains, planes and automobiles, household items, tools, and more.  Guides in period attire on hand to provide information about the displays.
Advance registration is not required.  The exhibit runs from June-September and is open on selected dates.  Admission is $12 for the museum exhibit; youth age 10-17 $8; age 9 and under free.

On Sunday, June 30th, the grounds of Hearthside House Museum will feature a psychic fair in a series known as “BeDazzled,” mini-events which offer different pieces from the cancelled BeWitched & BeDazzled Festival last fall. The mini-events are held outdoors and accompany “The Joy & Wonder of Miniatures” exhibit taking place inside the museum.

Individual tents will be set up around the grounds, offering privacy for the readings.  Eight psychics will offer a variety of different services for personal insights, including tarot card readings, aura photography and spirit communications.  Session times and pricing vary with each reader.  Visitors may sign up upon arrival for their choice of reader and time slot.  Participating in “BeDazzled with Psychics” are: Sha Blackburn, Shelley Boyer, Charlynn DeVito, Sarah Gagne, Jill Hillery, Sonya Jace, Amanda McLaughlin, and Heather Woodman.

A special guest appearance by “Mary Todd Lincoln”, portrayed by one of Hearthside’s interpreters, will greet visitors arriving on the grounds.  The former first lady was a staunch believer in Spiritualism, which was at its height during the mid-late 19th century.

Hearthside was built in 1810 and is managed, preserved, and interpreted by the volunteers of the Friends of Hearthside.
