Galway Kinnell Youth (14-18) Poetry Slam

Youth Participants will present an original poem inspired by Galway Kinnell a poem about their community or favorite place.
Scoring: Presentation of Galway poem or inspired poem -1-5.
Display of emotions (Sad, happy, etc …) – 1-5
Enthusiasm (Positive energy, speaking animatedly, avoiding monotone) – 1-5
Overall performance – 1-5
Total possible points- 20
First Place Prize $100
Second Place Prize $50
Winners will be announced at the Galway Kinnell Poetry Festival Featured Reading Event with RI State Poet Laureate Tina Cane and winners will have an opportunity to read their poem during open mic on
