The Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame is co-sponsoring the premiere of “Do It, Man! The Story of the Celebrity Club.” This is a terrific documentary about the Providence nightclub which became New England’s first integrated nightspot. The movie presents the legendary stars of jazz, R&B and early Rock ’n’ Roll from Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday to Louis Jordan and Fats Domino.
Refreshments will be served and there’ll be a cash bar with beer and wine plus a set from 2108 Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame inductee Lloyd Kaplan and his band, The Aristocats.
The movie will be shown at 7:00 followed by Q&A with the film makers. This is a fundraiser to put some finishing touches on the film and prepare it for national distribution.
Seating is limited. Tickets are $25 and on sale now
