Taj Mahal was the presenter for his good friend Claudia Lennear at the 2019 RI MUSIC HALL OF FAME. Providence native CLAUDIA is a soul singer and educator residing in LA. She was one of the premiere back up vocalists of all time. Claudia was a Ikette in the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, Joe Cocker Band, Leon Russell, Freddie King and took the stage with George Harrison, Ravi Shankar and friends at Madison Square Garden to play The Concert for Bangladesh. Her relationship with Mick Jagger and David Bowie is often cited as inspiration for The Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar.”
