It might say Providence, but really the Red Carpet Experience is happening in the Blackstone Valley at the Rustic Tri-View Drive In which opens for the season on April 23rd.  Blackstone Valley star of screen – Central Falls own Viola Davis is once again nominated for an Oscar in the best actress category for her role as Ma Rainey in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. 

Celebrate the 39th Anniversary of the Flickers Arts Collaborative.

It’s been a year of lockdown and reacting to ongoing pandemic. So many events have been postponed or cancelled. Even the Academy Awards were moved to a date two months later – from February to April.

Instead of making this a virtual event this year, we decided to be creative and celebrate the Oscars® in unique Rhode Island-style — at the Drive In. By late April, temperatures will be pleasant and we will have a safe environment outdoors under the stars. Working with the good folks at the Rustic Tri-View Drive In, we will provide a boxed barbeque chicken dinner (BBQ chicken breast, Pasta salad, Cole Slaw, Corn bread) for each of our attendees and bring in a beverage truck to spice up the evening. (Vegan/vegetarian options available upon request).

We’ve kept the cost reasonable and will limit attendance to the first 150 who buy tickets.

Our special evening is once again chaired by Steven Feinberg, Executive Director of the RI Film and Television Office with RIIFF Advisory Board President, Michael Drywa, Esq.

The pandemic-friendly event will feature live coverage by our friends at WLNE ABC6, a Pre-show on the big screen, Media interviews, Photo Opportunities, a special boxed barbeque dinner, gourmet desserts that will please and titillate, a raffle of VIP Passes to RIIFF 2021, swag bags that will definitely surprise and, of course, the screening of the biggest awards ceremony of the year in Rhode Island-style.

Parking will be limited and socially distanced.

Hosts for the evening from WLNE ABC6 are John Deluca and Christina Meyers, with Doreen Scanlon undertaking live interviews during the half hour segments.
