It’s that time of year, we have melted in the sun or dodged thunderstorms; and perhaps we are thinking about Christmas. At least that is the premise behind Christmas in July sales and Hallmark Channel’s reruns of their many holiday movies, no matter the genre.  (If you don’t believe us, do a web search and you’ll see).

We in the Blackstone Valley are not exempt from celebrating Christmas in July. Perhaps we feel we need a break from the heat by thinking about Santa and his sleigh …. or maybe we just like the holiday treats.  

Wright’s Dairy Farm is milking it too with some holiday treats on sale now through Monday, July 25th.  You can order some of their holiday favorites like Buche de Noel, Christmas cookies or their delightful “snowman on beach” cupcakes.

Maybe you’ve already started your Christmas shopping, but if not, this weekend is a good time to start with two events coming up right here in the Valley. 

• Saturday, July 23 @ 12 – 5 pm, Christkindlmarkt in Sommer (Summer Christmas Market), German American Cultural Society (GACSRI) in Pawtucket. The GACSRI decided to combine its annual Christkindlmarkt with its Sommerfest. There will be a number of local artisans and retailers selling at this outdoor market and the Biergarten (Beer Garden) will be open for snacks and beverages. MORE INFO

• Sunday, July 24 @ 11 am – 3 pm, Christmas in July at the Elks Lodge 850 in Woonsocket. Why wait until December! Food, friends, games, Penny Social, bake sale, Yankee Swap! Even the Big Guy’s gonna be there! Come have a good time without the threat of snow!
