The film is an alternative history of the Blackstone River as told from the river’s perspective and narrated by Nipmuc Native Bruce Curliss. Kittacuck is the Native American name for the river meaning “Great Tidal River.”

Speaking of the Blackstone River and the watershed is celebrating an important milestone in 2022 – ZAP50.

In September of 1972, a grassroots project known as Operation ZAP (Zero Away Pollution) began the clean-up efforts of the Blackstone River watershed. The legacy continues with every clean up within the watershed. To honor the 50th anniversary of ZAP a monumental clean-up/green-up event will be held on Saturday, August 27 with volunteers spanning the entire Blackstone Valley in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts!
