The Assumption Greek Church Annual Festival will transform the parish grounds into a virtual Greek Village – and invites EVERYONE to join in their glendi (Greek Village Festival). The grounds of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Greek Orthodox Church, Pawtucket, will be transformed its grounds into a virtual Village Festival and invite EVERYONE to join in. Guided to the Festival grounds through a parade of flags, where each area will carry the ‘flavor’ of the beautiful Greek Villages and Islands. They will then be drawn by the aroma of Lamb Roasting on the Spit, emerging onto an abundance of foods and pastries, all prepared on site; each booth will carry the ‘flavor’ of the beautiful Greek Villages and Islands. To add to fullness of our Village we offer an in-door/out-door Greek Agora (marketplace) with an abundance of specialized clothing, jewelry, giftware & religious items. This is a time when the parish showcases their Greek Heritage, Culture, and Greek Orthodoxy as we commemorate the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
It’s all about food! With a tradition (and reputation) of serving outstanding Greek food to thousands of hungry attendees, the community joins together with strict guidelines for all of the cooking and baking. For uniformity in quality and flavor, the women of the parish bake all of the pastries on the premises in the parish professional kitchen. The men, as is traditional, prepare the meats on site. 2020 Date: TBD
