Run Of The Mill

David Lawlor is an avid filmmaker and documentarian who lives in Providence, Rhode Island. He tells the stories of places undergoing transformation. David is a multi-disciplinary artist that has worked in many realms surrounding music, as well as fine-art photography and video creation.

Mopes

Back again for the first time, the artist formerly known as PROLYPHIC is marching forward with a new name & a new perspective. It’s not just a name change – it’s a game change.

Over the past 20 years, the producer/MC has crafted formidable platters with underground hip hop legends Reanimator (The Ugly Truth) & Buddy Peace (Working Man) before dropping his self-produced LP DNGRFLD in 2016. His latest self-produced LP, Unwound, was released in 2022 via Strange Famous Records and reveals more about the man of multiple monikers than any project before it.

Jesse The Tree

After a decade of exploring the underground, touring territories most indie emcees never even glimpse, scattering his styles across singles and stages and Soundcloud streams, Jesse The Tree finally found a home right back where he started with the Ocean State’s own Strange Famous Records.

“PIGEON MAN,” the Rhode Island emcee’s first release on the label, is produced by MOPES (formerly known as Prolyphic), and features appearances by label boss SAGE FRANCIS, label mates EARLY ADOPTED and RUNT of JIVIN SCIENTISTS, and a host of collaborators including PremRock, Myles Bullen, Roz Raskin, Dirty Durdie, and Alan Hague (Passionplay, Prayers For Atheists).

Freddie Black

Freddie Black is a prolific artist from Rhode Island. Throughout his career he’s been able to catch the ear of some of the most legendary icons in hip hop today. From rocking numerous stages to releasing stellar compositions, it’s clear the sky’s the limit for this innovative emcee.

ToadStool

Rapper/producer, ToadStool, is a key part of Rhode Island’s burgeoning hip hop scene, Toad has been performing to large crowds all around the Northeast for nearly a decade, garnishing several award nominations and best-of lists, and has even had some of the music he created included in the video game Rock Band.

ToadStool released, Labtrashr, earlier this year with limited edition 5″ vinyl and cassettes available via Where The Living Room Used To Be and his latest project, Aye yoU, comes out on August 25th on all DSPs

Trademarc

Trademarc is no stranger to forming and furthering friendships through music. He began his musical journey with fellow indie rap heavy-hitters 7L & Esoteric (CZARFACE), forming his first official group (under the name God Complex) with the duo and other college friends in the mid-1990s. After the crew’s amicable split, Trademarc hooked up with another (more literal) heavy-hitter: his cousin, professional wrestler (and rapper) John Cena. The pair released the RIAA certified-platinum LP You Can’t See Me on Columbia Records, touring the US and Europe and making high profile appearances on TV’s Monday Night RAW. Predka struck out on his own with his follow-up, the more conceptual Inferiority Complex, and in 2008 joined old friends Esoteric and DC for 3 releases as the indie rap supergroup East Coast Avengers. In 2019, Trademarc released his most recent full length album, Blood Meridian, on Strange Famous Records in 2019. In addition to his rap career, he is a respected poet that has a couple published books of poetry.

Storm Davis

The last-ditch scratched-wax Axl Rose, biding his time by day as label manager for Strange Famous Records and by night as resident dead-horse-beater for Poorly Drawn People.
