Unique technology provides an ideal solution to
prevent fogging of film surfaces and enhance packaging
visibility in hot and
cold temperatures.
When packaged fruits, vegetables, flowers &
meat are stored at low temperature, film or bag visibility
becomes poor due to moisture condensation on their surfaces. This
poor visibility hampers the marketability of products packed in
them.
Initially developed by NASA, anti-fog agents
or treatments are usually produced with chemicals that prevent
the condensation build-up of water in the form of small droplets
on the surface of film resembling fog. The extent of the
phenomenon depends on the actual temperature and relative
humidity of the enclosed air mass or temperature of
the plastic film. These additives are used extensively in the
agriculture and packaging sector.
Nuvia Anti-Fog (AF-25501) is a unique technology that is not based on
oils or wax chemistry. It consists of covalently
surface-treated nano spheres and is added in the film for the
packaging of food products. It is composed of non-ionic
surfactant that diffuses to the surface of polymer in a short
period of time. Based on treated silica micro-spheres converted
to plastic master batch, it improves the wet-ability of polymer
film by water.
The film converts the condensation into
droplets and maintains visibility of the packaging at both low
and higher temperatures, making it an ideal solution to prevent
the fogging of film surfaces & maintain
visibility of the packaging in both hot and cold temperatures.
Product Features and Advantages
Nuvia's Anti-Fog master-batches:
-
Are based on covalently surface-treated silica nano-spheres,
converted to plastic master batch in LLDPE, PS,
PBT or other polymers
-
Prevent fogging of film surfaces at low temperature during
storage (needs at least
72hrs to be effective)
-
Maintain the visibility/marketability of packaged food items,
making it excellent for use in film for
packaging of food products
- Improve production efficiency of film
production
- Are used in polyethylene and
polypropylene packaging where moisture can condense into an
opaque layer of droplets on the inside package surface and
obscure the package contents and increasing the film’s
surface energy
- Consist of free flowing pellets easily
metered with standard volumetric feeder
- Are used at low concentrations so they
don’t interfere with multilayer film lamination, heat sealability,
or printability
- Are compliant with FDA and EC food
contact standards
- Are effective in hot or
cold applications
- Are certified by Intertek
Laboratories for efficacy and RoHS compliance
